Time for a heart centred approach with a Pink Full Moon

Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none - William Shakespeare

It’s time to trust your heart, dare to voice your feelings and take your relationships to a new level, if you dare open yourself up and be vulnerable and trusting.

This month’s Pink moon marks the first full moon of this astrological year, and it falls in the beautiful, harmonious sign of Libra. But with the Sun still in Aries, Pluto pushing for transformation and Saturn, Mars and Mercury all making their presence felt just days after the peak of the Jupiter-Neptune conjunction in Pisces what and how is this going to affect us?

Libra is a cardinal air sign ruled by Venus which brings in some much-needed momentum. Cardinal signs are the initiators of the Zodiac, they’re driven to start things and Libra, with its air element is all about harmony, balance, justice and beauty. If you’ve ever worked or know a Libra then you’ll know that they loathe disputes and conflict, can take some time weighing up a response or making a decision and they like everything around them to be peaceful and harmonious. But don’t take them for doormats!

Aries on the other hand, whilst also a cardinal sign brings in the element of fire. These two are both about relationships, Aries as the first sign of the zodiac is about self, Libra with its harmonious love is about others. Don’t be surprised then if you find yourself walking a tightrope between your needs and the needs of those around you, or between assertion and compromise.

Following on from the recent turbulence this Full Moon asks us to take off any rose-coloured spectacles and take an honest look at those we love, those we care about and those we work with and how we interact with them. Where might we be relying too heavily on those we love, or conversely being too independent and shutting them out? Which, if any, of our relationships might be too co-dependant or unbalanced right now? Are we carrying people who need to walk? Are we being too available or putting up walls and being unavailable? Where are we letting that fear of being vulnerable, of opening ourselves up, of maybe being hurt to stop us loving?

Expressing our emotions can come so easily to some, and yet be the biggest mountain to climb to others. And when you bring Saturn in Aquarius and Mars in Pisces into the mix trine the moon in Libra with Mercury in Taurus even those of us who find it a piece of cake talking about their feelings might find it harder than usual at the moment. That Libra dislike of conflict could find you avoiding tough decisions, swallowing back your words for fear of arguments and biting your tongue. Trust the Aries energy to allow you to speak wisely but also to speak your truth and you should see a deepening rather than a separation in your relationships.

Full Moons are a time of heightened emotions, it’s where we get the word Lunacy from. There’s no accident that admissions to A&E, or police call outs are higher at full moons. The key to this full moon is to remain balanced. Where do you need to look at balance in your life - is your work, home, health in need of some balance, where do you see a harmonious flow? And where do you need to dial it back a bit on commitments, on being over committed or overwhelmed. Delegate or put on the back burner whatever you can until the air elemental part of this stunning Full Moon passes. Instead, breath, and focus on what you need to release, forgive and be grateful for.

As well as being chock full of emotions Full Moons are action times which works well with the initiative energy of both cardinal signs. Pluto’s transformative presence in Capricorn forming a T-square with the Sun and Moon means things might feel a little more ‘off’ or out of balance than usual. Use your grounding techniques, connect deeply with Mother Earth or wear crystals that will keep your energy grounded and balanced through the next few days. Use the Libran sense of justice to find alternative solutions to situations that feel ‘off’. And, as Pluto is the planet of transformation you might just find new understandings occurring around life lessons.

Let go of whatever is holding you back, whatever fears are stopping you from achieving harmony and balance in your life. Work with the rituals of releasing, forgiving and gratitude under this heart centred Pink Moon. Think before you speak, balance the fiery Aries energy with Libras fairness, take considered action and avoid rashness and that tendency to impulsiveness that the Aries sun brings. Being decisive doesn’t always come easily to Libras but with emotions running high, a reluctance to invite in conflict or arguments and a need for harmony and balance right now it’s time to move forward, to dare to deepen our closest and most meaningful relationships with truth, fairness, tact and diplomacy.

Crystals for a Libra Full Moon

I always love to work with crystals and what better excuse than at a full moon when I can use a crystal grid to amplify my work, to make moon water and some I place in a water jug to drink during the day for harmony and balance.

These are my choices for working with this Pink Moon, and why.

  • Lepidolite - great for soothing stress and anxiety, a harmonising stone which can bring about emotional healing.

  • Turquoise - for spiritual connection, friendships, relationships and listening to your inner wisdom

  • Larimar - a peaceful stone which is said to bring clarity and soothe emotional trauma.

  • Black Tourmaline - for its grounding abilities but also objectivity and clarity of thought.

  • Mangano Calcite - to allow healthy, loving relationships

  • Hematite - protective, balancing and focus

  • Moldavite - for spiritual transformation, not always an easy one to wear but if you’re working with the recent Jupiter-Neptune conjunction this may be one to try

  • Moonstone - always a favourite when working with the Moon Goddess, it’s her stone. Feminine, intuitive and connective.

Have a wonderful balanced and harmonious Lunar weekend.
